TIME AND WORK CRACK BYTES
Hey folks ,
Let us start from level easy to hard. In this post we will be discussing TWO METHODS for simple concept in TIME AND WORK. Lets proceed to METHOD 1
METHOD 1:
General description of METHOD 1 - There will be a piece of work . Say Person A will complete it in some X days ,say Person B will complete the same work in some Y days. The question will be asked to find the number of days taken to complete the same work if both A and B work together.
APPROACH 1:
(Just follow the steps)
STEP 1: Take LCM of X and Y ----- TOTAL WORK -----1
STEP 2: LCM / X ----- Individual work done by A -----2
STEP 3: LCM/Y ------- Individual work done by B -----3
STEP 4: 1/(2+3) -------Number of days taken to complete if A & B work together -----ANSWER
The execution of above steps seems to be time consuming , but actually it is not. It will work out faster if we apply on some questions. Here we go with some METHOD 1 questions. it will make our approach easier then.
EXAMPLES ON METHOD 1:
A can do a piece of work in 10 days. B can do the same work in 15 days. In how many days will the work be completed , if A & B work together ?
Just follow the steps mentioned to arrive at correct answer
STEP 1: Take LCM of 10 and 15 ----- TOTAL WORK -----30
STEP 2: 30/ 10 ----- Individual work done by A -----3
STEP 3: 30/15 ------- Individual work done by B -----2
STEP 4: 30/(3+2) -------6 days taken to complete if A & B work together -----ANSWER 6 days
A can do a piece of work in 12 days. B can do the same work in 15 days. In how many days will the work be completed , if A & B work together ?
Just follow the steps mentioned to arrive at correct answer
STEP 1: Take LCM of 12 and 15 ----- TOTAL WORK -----60
STEP 2: 60/ 12 ----- Individual work done by A -----5
STEP 3: 60/15 ------- Individual work done by B -----4
STEP 4: 60/(5+4) -------20/3 days taken to complete if A & B work together -----ANSWER 20/3 or 6 2/3 days
From the above steps and calculations we could arrive to the Formula for calculating the days taken to complete the work as Total work / per day working capacity of all workers
